We served 405 meals and hosted our first ever virtual event!
A successful day in support of Immigrant Legal Center
The sixth annual Food Truck World Tour was a little different this year. In response to COVID-19 and concerns for the safety and well-being of our staff, volunteers, and supporters, we introduced the 2020 Drive Thru Food Truck World Tour. The Drive thru event was hosted on Sunday, October 11 and allowed attendees to continue supporting our mission while staying in their cars and sampling delicious food from Omaha’s favorite food trucks.
Delicious options were available from Omaha Steaks, Maria Bonita Mexican Cuisine, El Arepon Venezuelan Food, Okra African Grill, Wonton Jon’s, and The Parthenon. Our Drive Thru event, which took place at Millwork Commons, allowed plenty of space for guests to smoothly drive through each food truck and food station to pick up their meals while following the recommend social distancing guidelines to reduce the spread of COVID-19.
After the Drive Thru event, attendees were able to watch our first ever virtual program, hosted by KMTV 3 News Now anchor Maya Saenz. The virtual program allowed attendees to learn more about ILC and the clients that we serve, as well as introduced attendees to our new executive director, Erik Omar. During the virtual event, attendees were able to watch performances from local Omaha musicians, in collaboration with Hi Omaha and Life + Times Session, Mesonjixx and Grace Titus. Attendees were also able to view a special performance from local blues singer Steve Lovett.
