Get Involved | The Trump administration has proposed a change to immigration regulations which will end a court mandated rule that employment authorization applications for asylum seekers must be adjudicated within 30 days of being received by United States Citizenship and Immigration Services. Asylum seekers must already wait 150 days to apply for employment authorization, and without this rule applications will become backlogged and asylum seekers will be severely harmed. The ability to lawfully work is of paramount importance to the clients we serve at the Immigrant Legal Center and this change will cause hardship to many families in our community.
Fortunately, as part of the regulatory process, the government has to allow the public to weigh in and comment upon the proposed change. However, the last day to make a comment is November 8th, 2019. Please take a few minutes to make a comment on this proposed change so that you can make a difference by making your voice heard. Visit the link below to find step-by-step instructions and links to make a comment, as well as sample language and arguments to include in your comment.
