The Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles announced today that Ukrainian nationals and refugees in the state are eligible to apply for a driver’s license. Obtaining a driver’s license had long been a roadblock for many immigrants and refugees, forcing them to face daily challenges in transportation, employment, and other vital aspects of their lives.
Immigrant Legal Center + Refugee Empowerment Center is here to help those who may require assistance in obtaining the necessary documents and navigating the application process. We also offer comprehensive driving classes that are designed to educate drivers on traffic laws, driving practices, safety tips, and much more. Contact Education Case Manager Claire Yocom at cyocom@refugeeempowerment.org to learn more about our driving classes.
Please note that the new driver’s licenses will bear a unique distinguishing mark. This feature will be used to indicate that the holder is not a U.S. Citizen.
